RETORTABLE PLASTIC BAGS AND FILMS
Bags and films with or without printing ideal for sterilization in autoclave replacing the can and the glass.
Providing a shelf life of up to 2 years without refrigeration.
A retortable packaging is one that is hermetically sealed and resists the thermal treatment (in an autoclave) necessary for its sterilization, together with its content, in order to inactivate the enzymes and kill the microorganisms that can damage the product or make its consumer sick . Different food products, packages and sizes thereof, require temperatures and particular heat treatment times to ensure their integrity. Until very recently, retortable packages were manufactured from glass or metal, because no other material could withstand the thermal stress of retorting (or autoclaving).
Nowadays, some plastics can provide this service under different forms of packaging: Bags (pouches), bottles, cups and thermoformed trays and, lately, boxes with cardboard support.
